A Very Fine Conference

Funded by the CRUS (École Doctorale de Philosophie Contemporaine) and the Swiss National Science Foundation ("Lesser Entities", 101112-147361), eidos, the Centre for Metaphysics at the University of Geneva, organises a conference dedicated to the work of Kit Fine, arguably the best philosopher alive.

The conference will be held in a XVIIth century villa in front of one of Varese's lakes from July 28 to August 3 2013, and will consist of 4 plenary talks, 22 short talks by the participants, two keynote lectures and replies by Kit Fine.

The conference covers the accommodation costs of the participants staying at the hotel, coffee breaks, five light lunches (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday), and Sunday and Tuesday dinners (including some wine). Travel costs, the other dinners and the activities on free Wednesday afternoon are at the charge of the participants.

A full bibliography of Kit Fine's published work may be found here. Some of the papers may be downloaded in full here and a bib-tex bibliography is here.

Slots are short: 45 minutes, including discussion. To maximise philosophical profit, participants should read as much as possible in advance - not just Fine's papers, but relevant material to the participants' presentations as well. Please send any material you want posted here to me by email, in pdf format and labelleled [yourlastname][n].pdf (where n is the number of the document). Speakers may themselves divide the 45 minutes into talk and discussion, but Q & A should take up at least 10 minutes.

Talks are held in a seminar room of the hotel. There will be a beamer for powerpoint presentations, and a large format paper pad.
